Renowned sports journalist Frank Owusu Ansah, popularly known as Franko Naro, has not held back in his criticism of former Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah. Naro has raised concerns about what he perceives as shady deals made under Amponsah’s leadership.

While Amponsah is credited with leading Asante Kotoko to a league title and guiding the team through continental competitions, Naro and others have highlighted issues with his management style. On a recent episode of his show on Kessben FM, Naro specifically called out several controversial decisions made by Amponsah.

Naro pointed to the “shady” Kotoko Southampton deal, in which Asante Kotoko was reportedly paying £40,000 to Southampton annually. He also raised questions about the unaccounted Ceek partnership and criticized the handling of player contracts, citing cases like Muniru Sulley and Fabio Gama where Asante Kotoko seemingly missed out on potential earnings.

For Naro, the principle of accountability and transparency is paramount when it comes to football administration. He emphasized that those in positions of power should be held to a high standard, and he made it clear that he would not hesitate to criticize the current Interim Management Committee (IMC) if they were to make similar missteps.

Naro’s outspoken commentary has sparked discussions among fans and stakeholders in the Ghanaian football community, shedding light on the importance of ethical practices in sports management.
