Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey will be sidelined for an extended period after picking up a muscle injury that will keep him out of action until May.

The news was confirmed by Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi in a press conference on Friday afternoon.

Lamptey, who last featured in Brighton’s 3-0 loss to Arsenal, has been struggling with injuries throughout the current season and also towards the end of the previous season. It remains unclear how the 23-year-old sustained the latest injury.

In addition to Lamptey, Brighton will also be without several other key players due to injuries. De Zerbi revealed that Bart Verbruggen will start in goal, while Billy Gilmour, James Milner, and Adam Webster are nearing returns to full fitness.

The manager expressed his frustration with the situation, stating, “The situation is tough as we have nine injured players. It’s more or less the same squad we played against Arsenal.”

De Zerbi also mentioned that Julio Enciso will not be available for the upcoming match, although the extent of his injury is still uncertain. Brighton will face Burnley without Lamptey and Enciso as they aim to secure a positive result in their next Premier League fixture.
