The nominees for the 25th anniversary of the renowned Ghana Music Awards, which this year is sponsored by Telecel, were announced on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

Chief One, a Ghanaian singer from the Volta Region, has resorted to Facebook to voice his dismay that his song “TOYOTA” did not receive a nomination for Best Afrobeat Song of the Year at the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

His announcement came immediately after the nominees were revealed at a ceremony hosted at the Accra International Conference Centre.

In his article, Chief One sarcastically questioned the board and academy of the award scheme’s choice not to nominate his music.

He hinted that there may be an undiscovered reason why his music did not make the cut.

The organizers have unveiled the candidates for the Best Afrobeat Song of the Year category, which include:

• Hossana — Banzy Banero

• Broken Heart (DJ Vyrusky ft. Kuami Eugene)

• Otello by Fancy Gadam featuring Kuami Eugene

• Liquor- KiDi

• Monica — Kuami Eugene

• Case Remix by Mr. Drew featuring Murphty

• Goodsin – Olivetheboy

Despite the defeat, Chief One thanked his followers for their constant support, noting that their love is precious.
