Famous actress Edinam Atatsi disclosed that she was a virgin when she first entered the film business, explaining that other industry professionals weren’t attracted to her sexually since they thought she was innocent.

Edinam, who rose to prominence in the early 1990s film industry, revealed that many people mistakenly thought she was a petite, unsophisticated up-and-coming actress because of her juvenile appearance and stature.

“I have always been a virgin,” she clarified. Some of the older ones have only recently admitted that they were unaware of my maturity and believed me to be merely a young, pretty girl. They didn’t touch me, thus.

The disclosure was made in response to a conversation concerning how actors’ interactions with other members of the profession are affected by their on-screen personas.

While Edinam talked about her positive experience, actress Akofa Edjeani told how she was sexually harassed by a Nigerian director, which made her resign from a position in one of his shows.

It was a Nigerian filmmaker, as I doubt any Ghanaian director would have the courage to ask me that kind of question with a straight face. He believed he could do that on me because that’s what most of them do, but I sized him up and placed him in his rightful place, Akofa disclosed.

She went on to describe another instance in which improper advances forced her to exit a set.

The conversation illuminated the difficulties encountered by actresses in the business, with Akofa stressing that she was branded a “bad girl” in certain film parts because of her aversion to putting up with harassment.

As Prime Morning launched Ghana Month, actor and former artistic director of the National Theatre Mawuli Semevo also joined the discussion, sharing insights into the craft of filmmaking in the 1990s.
