On March 5, 2024, Solihin passed away while undergoing treatment for kidney and lung ailments at the Advent Hospital in Bandung.
His age was 97. When Solihin passed away, he had been receiving medical attention in the hospital for fifteen days.

The former army general has previously struggled with a number of health issues, such as a small stroke in 2017 and a case of COVID-19 in 2021.
A representative for the family said that Solihin passed away at Advent Hospital at three in the morning.

Solihin served in the Indonesian Army for twenty years, actively participating in several operations against uprisings by the Indonesian Communist Party and the Darul Islam movement, led by Kahar Muzakkar, until 1968.
He became the governor of West Java in 1970 and served in that capacity for five years. He was a member of President Soeharto’s advisory council in the middle of the 1990s.
Solihin joined the People’s Consultative Assembly, the nation’s highest legislature, a few years after Soeharto resigned in 1998.
In the 2014 and 2019 presidential contests, Solihin declared his endorsement of Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, who was then the future president. He advised Jokowi’s presidential campaign in 2019 when he ran for reelection.
Solihin provided support to Ganjar Pranowo, a presidential contender, during the most recent election.
