A scheduled lethal injection execution was abruptly delayed due to complications faced by the medical team involved in the procedure.
Thomas Eugene Creech, a convicted serial killer from Hamilton, Ohio, was sentenced to death for multiple homicide cases.
Creech, born on September 9, 1950, was found guilty in two separate murder cases and has been serving time at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution since March 25, 1976.
Despite being one of the longest-serving death row prisoners, Creech’s execution was put on hold as the medical staff struggled to locate a vein to administer the lethal injection.
After multiple failed attempts, the execution was eventually called off, leading to the expiration of the death warrant.
The Idaho Department of Corrections stated that they are considering next steps following the failed execution.
Creech’s confirmed victims include Vivian Robinson, William Dean, Edward Arnold, John Bradley, and David Dale Jensen, for which he was sentenced to death.
