Natalee Holloway mysteriously went missing in 2005 while on a school trip to Aruba.
Joran van der Sloot was named the prime suspect in her case. He is a convicted murderer who was born on August 6, 1987, in Arnhem, Netherlands.
In 2012, he was convicted of killing 21-year-old Stephany Flores in his hotel room and sentenced to 28 years in prison for Flores’ death. However, authorities believe he was involved in Holloway’s disappearance as well.
Holloway’s body has never been found, but an Alabama judge declared her dead in 2012. For 11 years, van der Sloot served his sentence in Peru until 2023 when he traveled to the United States to face extortion and fraud charges.
He arrived in the US on June 8, 2023, and pleaded guilty to fraud and extortion on October 18, 2023, after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors.
After confessing to killing Holloway in court and passing a polygraph test, van der Sloot will be returned to Peru once legal proceedings in the US conclude.
He is currently married to Leidy Figueroa and has a daughter, but he has asked for a divorce and is in a relationship with Eva Pacohuanaco. It is alleged that he is being visited by two other women apart from Pacohuanaco.
