Kwabena Gideon, a 23-year-old vendor of mobile money, is said to have poisoned himself to get out of debt GH¢16,000.
This regrettable tragedy happened in the Central Region’s Akrampa, in the Awutu Bereku region. The dead allegedly drank DDT after losing GH¢16,000 in two weeks, according to reports.
After deleting all of his contacts and photos from social media and turning off his phone, Gideon’s irate supervisor assumed he had wasted the money.
He then went to the Awutu Bereku police and reported the incident. It is reported that Gideon poisoned himself because he was afraid of going to jail.
The abrupt death of the young, promising Gideon, who the locals characterized as hardworking, has startled them.
In an interview with Adom News, his neighbor Faustina Asare revealed that the dead appeared anxious just hours before he passed away. He left behind a son who was one year old and a wife. Since then, the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital has received his body.
