President Abena Osei-Asare, a member of parliament representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Atiwa East seat and deputy minister of finance, has been named a minister of state in the finance ministry by President Akufo-Addo.

After Ken Ofori-Atta left office on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, after serving in that capacity for seven years and two months, Mohammed Amin Adam was named the new substantive Finance Minister. Mrs. Osei-Asare assumes Mr. Adam’s position.

In addition to being named the Deputy Minister for Finance, Dr. Alexander Ampaabeng is the NPP’s 2024 parliamentary candidate in the Western North Region’s Juaboso constituency.

He takes over the role when Abena Osei-Asare was promoted to Minister of State from her previous role as deputy minister.
