The recent separation of Accra Academy’s energy supply has shocked and infuriated the Free SHS Secretariat.
Adom News was informed by the Secretariat’s Deputy National Coordinator, Nana Afrah Sika Mensah, that they were shocked by the event.
She clarified that they typically get bills from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) for processing and payment, following which the relevant schools are credited.
Even more unexpected was the disconnection, as Nana Afrah revealed that the Secretariat had already paid GH₵5 million to ECG.
She gave the public the assurance that this episode has taught us lessons and that steps will be taken to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.
Concerns have been expressed over the impact of the disconnect, which left Accra Academy completely dark on Monday, on the education of students and the efficient operation of the institution.
The Free SHS Secretariat is still dedicated to supporting Ghana’s education system, which includes making sure that similar interruptions never occur again.
The episode serves as a reminder of the difficulties that the nation’s educational institutions face as well as the necessity of efficient coordination and communication between all parties in order to avoid such problems.
The Free SHS Secretariat’s promise to resolve the issue is a step in the right direction toward making sure that kids get the education they need without unneeded disruptions.
