The police have promised to do everything within their power to guarantee security for the next elections. The organization has published a list of locations that they deem to be hotspots during the main electioneering seasons.
These locations are hubs where, because of their unstable nature, critical security deployment may be necessary. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Prince Gabriel Waabu, however, stated during a JoyNews interview that the service views each constituency as a hotspot.
“The entire nation is a hotspot. We intend to use the entire nation as a hotspot. On Monday, February 19, 2024, he stated, “When it comes to personal matters, we are not ignoring anything.
“They are known, for sure, but we’re not focusing on the fact that those would be the D-Day hotspots. Because if you focus on that, you might overlook other locations. Yes, we are aware of the older ones. We would monitor those areas and exercise extreme caution, but we believe that it has the potential to develop into [a significant hotspot].
DCOP Waabu also emphasized that to ensure the safety and security of voters throughout the election process, the police have put in place several systems and tactics.
He also expressed assurance that this year’s poll would be conducted with the same professionalism as previous internal party elections.
