Six firefighters from the Ashanti region’s Konongo Odumasi Fire Station barely avoided a mob attack while en route to attend to a crisis.
This is reportedly the second time they have come dangerously close to being attacked for being the last to respond to a local fire outbreak emergency.
The crew leader, LF Adom Stephen, told Joy News that when they were leaving an emergency, they received a call about another emergency.
He related how the enraged mob began yelling at them as soon as they arrived at the scene.
“Around nine o’clock at night, we received a call asking us to respond to another emergency when we were on our way back from an emergency at Breku on the Nkawkaw-Accra road. They believed that our tardiness was intentional,” he remarked.
This is the second mob attack that has occurred, he continued, and he feels that if nothing is done, something worse might occur the next time.
“How can you be attacking officers when the first attack happened in Odumasi and the second one happened in Konongo? Our authorities should help us arrest some of these people to serve as a deterrent to others.” the man questioned.
