Bryan Acheampong, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, has declared that farmers impacted by the Akosombo dam disaster have not been abandoned by the government.
He asserts that rather than forsaking them, the government has taken steps to guarantee their ability to take part in planting during the upcoming farming season.
The Minister stressed that the government’s goal is to deliver supplies and other necessary resources as soon as possible, allowing the impacted farmers to get back to farming during the next growing season.
He said, “I promise you that we are working hard to lessen the difficulties faced by our farmers.”
According to Bryan Acheampong, the government’s first priority is providing the impacted farmers with the tools they need to sow during the next planting season.
“The details of the crops and the lives of the afflicted farmers, as well as the machinery, equipment, and agricultural infrastructure that were destroyed, will all be fixed,” he continued.
In order to guarantee that the impacted farmers are in a strong position to continue producing enough for the nation, Mr. Acheampong also said that there will be a large distribution of farming inputs to them.
He stated that in order to assist the impacted farmers in their recuperation, they rely on the assistance of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and other organizations.
“Up until now, we have concentrated on making sure we have the resources necessary to provide them with input grants for the upcoming farming season.”
