Accordionist and conductor Mihai Amihalachioaie has passed away. He died on the night of Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the age of 62. A minute of silence was held for him on February 13, 2024.

Mihai Amihalachioaie’s cause of death was a result of liver cancer. In 2023, he was diagnosed with liver cancer. In July 2023 Amihalachioaie went to Istanbul, where he underwent a liver transplant operation, in August 2023, the donor was his son Petru.

Mihai Amihalachioaie was buried at Chișinău Central Cemetery on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, after a funeral ceremony at the Nicolae Sulac National Palace at “Nicolae Sulac”.
In 1985, Mihai Amihalachioaie began his musical career as an accordionist and folk music conductor of the “Busuioc Moldovenesc” Ensemble. In 1998, he collaborated, as a conductor, with the National Philharmonic, the National Chamber Orchestra, and the Chisinau Radio-TV Symphony Orchestra. He was an employee of the “Maria Bieșu” National Opera and Ballet Theatre.
Mihai Amihalachioaie collaborated with the “Provincialii” Group from Romania. He performed artistic tours abroad, such as Romania, Spain, Bulgaria, Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, etc.
