One of the biggest banks in Nigeria, Access Bank, has named a temporary CEO Herbert Wigwe’s replacement after he and five other people perished in a helicopter crash last Friday.
The parent firm of Access Bank, Access Holdings Plc, said in a statement that Bolaji Agbede, the most senior founding executive director of the bank, will take over as CEO in an interim capacity.
According to the organization, Ms. Agbede has been with Access Bank since 2003 and has almost thirty years of expertise in banking and business consulting.
About 96 kilometers (60 miles) from Las Vegas, Wigwe’s chartered helicopter crashed while it was traveling from Palm Springs to Boulder City, Nevada, in the United States.
The 57-year-old banker was on his route to Las Vegas for Sunday’s Super Bowl, according to the reports from Nigerian media.
1989 saw Wigwe launch Access Bank. After acquiring its primary rival, Diamond Bank, in 2018, it rose to become the biggest bank in Nigeria.
