Herbert Wigwe, the Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, perished in a horrific aircraft accident.
In a helicopter crash in California on Friday, Wigwe, his wife, and their son perished.
Herbert graduated with a degree in accounting from the University of Nigeria in Nsukka, Enugu State, before to his passing.
In addition, he holds an MSc in Financial Economics from the University of London and an MA in Banking and Finance from the University College of North Wales, which is now Bangor.
Wigwe began his professional career as a management consultant with Coopers & Lybrand in Lagos and went on to become a chartered accountant.
Following a brief employment at Capital Bank, he proceeded to join Guaranty Trust Bank, where he worked in corporate and institutional banking for more than ten years, eventually advancing to the position of executive director overseeing institutional banking.
In addition, Wigwe held the position of Chairman of Central Securities and Clearing System (CSCS), Access Bank Ghana Limited, and Access Investment & Securities Limited. Up until his passing, he served as Chairman of Access Bank (UK) Limited.
