Philanthropist and founder of Dudley Products, Joe Dudley Sr., passed away at the age of 86, on Thursday, February 8, 2024. He was the president and chief executive officer for Dudley Products Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of hair and skin care products for the African American community.

Joe Dudley’s cause of death was not revealed, he could have died from a natural cause in his sleep.
“He was such a humanitarian and giver,” said daughter Ursula Dudley Oglesby, an attorney who bought the brand and is now its president. “The stories that I hear are so heartfelt and make me smile.”

Joe Louis Dudley Sr. was born in Aurora, North Carolina, the fifth of 11 children. He graduated from A&T with a degree in business administration, and the couple moved to New York where he worked as a Fuller salesman for five years for his mentor and company founder S.B. Fuller, a pioneering African-American entrepreneur.
