Brooke Ellison said, “One of the few guarantees in life is that it will never turn out the way we expect. But, rather than let the events in our lives define who we are, we can make the decision to define the possibilities in our lives.”
Brooke Mackenzie Ellison was born on October 20, 1978. On September 4, 1990, at the age of 11, she was hit by a car while walking home from school, resulting in her being paralyzed from the neck down. Although her injuries left her completely dependent on other people, she graduated from Ward Melville High School in 1996 with high honors and was accepted by Harvard.
