According to development economist Dr. Frank Banor, the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) nominee for president in 2024, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, was realistic in his policy recommendations, which he unveiled on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
On Wednesday, February 7, Bawumia gave a speech to the public at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA). If elected president, he plans to enact a number of policies, such as eliminating the E-Levy and allowing the private sector to drive economic expansion.
Banor stated that Bawumia will receive an 80% score for his policies, stating that they show that he is thinking creatively during his appearance on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday, February 8, 2024.
“…the vice president’s attempt to level the playing field and ease some taxation is obviously an innovative idea.”
Banor stated, “As a reviewer, if I were supposed to evaluate the presentation, obviously I would give him an 80%. One of the things that really stood out to me and I believe we haven’t had enough time to discuss is the establishment of the Minerals Development Bank.”
