Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia openly expressed disagreement with certain of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s major economic decisions, but Kofi Bentil, the vice president of Imani Africa, revealed why Vice President Bawumia decided not to quit.
Mr. Bentil compared Bawumia’s position to a marriage, implying that not all disagreements end in divorce.
“Ahhhh Kofi. Marriage is an everlasting vow, kingship is till you die. What about political power, just four years?
“He could have resigned and contested for the flagbearers. You have reduced your intelligence to a KG kid. You are disgracing me.” one netizen commented on his post.
He stated that Bawumia’s choice to stay in office does not always mean that he approves of or bears responsibility for misbehavior by the administration.
Dr. Bawumia’s detractors have always said that if he had disagreed with government policy, he ought to have resigned to free himself from any consequences.
However, Mr. Bentil has demanded an impartial assessment of the Vice President’s leadership of the Economic Management Team.
He revealed this on February 7, 2024, in a Facebook post.
