This year’s election should be conducted peacefully, the Gonja Youth Association’s leaders are pleading. The need for peace before, during, and after the general elections in 2024 was highlighted during their recent Damba festival, where they made this call.
Speakers during the festival’s culmination at Cherembo, Bono-East area, were Lawyer Alhaji Mohammed Osman, President of the National Gonja Youth.
In reference to the impending elections, he urged young people to abstain from violence. He called for solidarity amongst Ghanaians’ diverse social groups and emphasized the importance of political tolerance.
The Chief Linguist of the Council of Gonja Chiefs in Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo, Naa Alhaji Ibrahim Kajiti, also signed on to the appeal.
He exhorted the young people not to fall for manipulation in order to stir up conflict during the election.
In an effort to foster harmony and understanding among the populace, the leaders are placing a strong emphasis on a calm and violence-free voting process.
