In the Ashanti Region’s Manhyia North, some NPP delegates assert that Nana Osei Bamfoh, the recently defeated MP candidate, is requesting the return of funds he gave them during the most recent parliamentary primaries.
Delegates who were upset claim that Nana Osei Bamfoh gave out money to buy votes in the party’s internal elections. However, he is allegedly requesting a reimbursement of the money due to his unsuccessful primary bid.
According to reports, the defeated candidate’s allies have been aggressively pursuing the delegates to demand the money back.
One individual is known by the name Nana Poku. He continues by threatening to return the money to us using the god “Antoa Nyamaa” within the next three days, which concludes today, Friday.
We, the delegates, are extremely uneasy and require the candidate to respond right away. A disgruntled delegate, going by the name Osei Yaw, said, “You made it clear that you won’t invoke any curses, but Nana Poku’s statement appears to suggest otherwise.”
“We are quite uneasy as delegates, and we expect a prompt reply from the candidate. Despite your clear declaration that you won’t call forth any curses, Nana Poku’s words seem to imply otherwise.
Depending on where you live, some of us received GHC2000 and GHC1,500 as T and T, and we were told nothing bad would happen to us. We are waiting on Nana Osei Bamfoh to publicly confirm or refute this action.
Calls seeking comments from Nana Osei Bamfoh regarding the accusations have not yet received a response.
With 389 votes, the current Member of Parliament, Akwasi Konadu, won the Manhyia North NPP primary. With only 15 votes, Nana Osei Bamfoh trailed behind Collins Owusu Amankwah, who received 286 votes.
The party is currently dealing with internal tensions related to the purported demand for fund retrieval as a result of the primary.
