“Akufo-Addo, Bawumia have let Ghana down” – Osofo Kyiri Abosom says

Reverend Christian Kwabena Andrews, popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, is the founder and leader of the Ghana Union Movement. He has strongly criticized the government for continuing to tax the general populace of Ghana, especially for necessities.

In particular, he emphasized the recently implemented 15 percent value-added tax on power, claiming that this reveals the current government’s economic mismanagement and justifies a negative assessment of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led administration.

Despite Ghana’s wealth of natural riches, Reverend Andrews argued that the two main political parties, the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party, had not lived up to expectations.

At a Kumasi event announcing his party’s platform for the 2024 elections and officially kicking off his campaign, he suggested reviving shuttered state-owned companies and creating free ports to increase the export of goods made in the country.

Reverend Andrews expressed his displeasure by ranking the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government at 0.00% and that they had not accomplished much.

He underlined that despite their campaign pledges, the country’s condition has gotten worse since they took office.

As a result, he pleaded with Ghanaians to support his party, stressing that people who comprehend his message ought to be given more attention than those who only criticize the current administration.

Reverend Andrews made the case that the government’s strategy is more detrimental than beneficial when addressing the issue of higher taxes, notably on mobile money and power.

He compared the state of affairs to a type of economic captivity in which the people are subjugated by high taxes. He conveyed the hope that these pressures might be lessened by a change in leadership.

Reverend Andrews questioned the viability of the NDC’s proposed 24-hour economy program, citing the scarcity of factories necessary for its successful implementation.
