The New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Bantama in the Ashanti region, Francis Asenso Boakye has emerged victorious by securing a substantial lead with 650 votes.
His closest contender who is a lawyer and sibling of the outspoken politician Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Ralph Agyapong, garnered 130 votes.
Mr. Kennedy Agyapong entered the electoral fray with a determined effort to displace Francis Asenso-Boakye, who sought re-election for a second term but that could not materialize.
However, Gifty Twum-Ampofo, the current Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, has been defeated in her quest to secure another term representing the constituency.
She garnered 202 votes, while her opponent, Nana Ampaw Addo-Frempong, also known as Buffalo, secured victory with 222 votes in the parliamentary primary.
Palgrave Boakye Danquah, a notable figure in Ghana’s security and governance, received 76 votes, and Nana Kwame Mamfe obtained four votes in the same primary.
In the Tano North constituency, Freda Prempeh was defeated by the Spokesperson of the Vice President and NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Gideon Boako.
