Milan Stanislav Ďurica was born in Krivany, Czechoslovakia, on August 13, 1925. His academic career began in 1956 when he was hired as a theology professor at Abano Terme’s Salesian Theological College. At the University of Padua, he earned his doctorate in political science in 1961. At the same university, he was elevated to the rank of professor of Eastern European political and constitutional history in 1967 and began teaching Slovak.
