Eric Kwaku Boateng, a prospective member of parliament (MP) for the Central Region’s Awutu Senya East Constituency in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claims he is the most qualified candidate to develop the seat.
In his opinion, Kasoa, the municipal capital, deserved greater development, and if elected during the party’s Saturday primary, he is in a position to deliver it.
Mr. Boateng, the President of the Ghana Automobile Dealers Union, is running against Hawa Koomson, the current Member of Parliament, and another candidate. He describes himself as a businessman and financier for the NPP.
In a current interview with him and according to the Ghanaian Times, he also stated that the first item on his agenda was to pressure the appropriate authorities to guarantee that the network of roads was paved or tarred to allow for the unhindered flow of people and commerce, as well as to install street lights to lower the rate of crime during the night.
Meanwhile, he claimed that because the constituency had fallen behind in terms of infrastructure development, it needed a leader of his quality to make sure that Awutu Senya East was adopted as a model constituency that other constituencies might follow.
Building human capital, which he stated was essential to the country’s development, Mr. Boateng said he was ready to set up an education fund from which he would support technical university students studying agriculture to increase the nation’s food security.
He pledged to combat youth unemployment by organizing a music talent search, supporting gifted football players, lending money to companies, implementing a work-and-pay arrangement for cab drivers, and addressing the problem of potable water.
Speaking about his past performance, he said that he had nurtured the community during the 21 years that he had been able to assist Mrs. Hawa Koomson’s campaign to win her the 2012 election.
“I implore you, dear delegates, to support me on Saturday so that I can demonstrate the difference I will make to the constituency by winning both their landslide victory and the seat for the constituency.”
