I won’t step foot at manhyia – Maurice Ampaw to Otumfuo

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw says he doesn’t know what he’ll be doing at the Manhyia Palace.

He feels that the Ashanti Chiefs have been biased towards the matter, so he does not see the need to go on Monday even though the Chiefs have called him.

It seemed to him that when the executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) came to the palace to make their case for Chairman Wontumi, they ought to have shown some wisdom by not passing judgment.

Speaking on Kasapa FM in Accra, he said, As a reputable and ethical lawyer, how can a Chief call me a gutter lawyer if you claim that I have historically treated you with disrespect?

They only mentioned things on social media, and the hosts insulted me without considering my side of the story.

How will I proceed there? On Monday, what am I going to do there? They are only going to humiliate and murder me when I go there because they have already judged me without giving me a chance to speak. I’m sorry Otumfuo’s chiefs are acting in this way while he’s out of town. “The Ghanaian Constitution is greater than all of us, and it even applies to Otumfuo,” he declared.

The Kumasi Traditional Council has called attorney Maurice Ampaw to appear before it on Monday, January 29, 2024. Following Chairman Wontumi’s summons by the Chiefs for disobedience, he is alleged to have showered the Chiefs with insults on Wontumi Radio.
