Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton says his players understand what they need to do to achieve the desired result in their final group game at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana will face Mozambique on Monday evening, looking to secure their first three points of the tournament after losing their first two matches. The Black Stars lost their first game to Cape Verde before twice-blowing a lead to draw with Egypt in their second match.
Ghana is down one point going into the final round of matches, and a victory could put them in a better position to advance to the competition’s next round. This is due to the draw against the Pharaohs.
Hughton made the following statement to the media prior to Monday’s match: “The players are aware of what it will take to win. This tournament doesn’t have any simple games.
“We have to be physically and mentally prepared for this.”
Ghana would move up to second place with a win and four points, contingent on the outcome of the Egypt vs. Cape Verde match.
