David Kiplangat, 60, an elder who was also an assistant pastor at an SDA church in Ketitui, unexpectedly died in Kapsoit, Kenya’s Kericho, while spending the evening in a lodging with a female companion.
After discovering Kiplangat dead, the woman left the area and immediately informed the hotel management of what had happened. Charles Kibati, the sub-county police commander for Belgut, reportedly confirmed the incident and said that Kiplangat was found dead, nude, and without any visible injuries. A used contraceptive was discovered at the scene.
“He was found dead, but he didn’t seem to be hurt. “At the time, he had no clothes on,” he is reported as saying.
An autopsy is scheduled at the mortuary of the Kericho County Referral Hospital, where the body has been relocated. Detectives are aggressively pursuing leads in the interim to locate and identify the woman who was with Kiplangat.
The area has seen some tragic events in the past. A similar incident involving the unexplained death of a St. Peters Ruai Catholic priest happened in a hotel last year. Feeling sick, the priest was brought to the hospital accompanied by a woman claiming to be his girlfriend. Nevertheless, he was declared deceased when they got there.
