Two suicide notes that the mother left behind, outlining her motivation, describe how she killed herself and her two children.
Amina, 31, gave her two children, a five-year-old daughter and a ten-year-old son, yoghurt spiked with rat poison. She also consumed the yoghurt. Their rented room contained their bodies.
In one of the two notes Amina penned, she accused her husband of being to blame for both her and the kids’ deaths. In her second note, she expressed her regret for her behavior to her family but also expressed her tiredness of life and her husband’s arguments.
“I love you all,” was her last post on her WhatsApp status.
Robert Majekwana, the deceased’s brother-in-law, verified to Africa that he discovered open yoghurt containers, an open bottle of juice, and rat poison.
Robert claimed to have received a call from one of Amina’s brothers informing him that Amina and her two children had not been seen in a while. Robert’s wife is the sister of the dead and is Robert’s spouse.
“We got a second call as we were leaving our Kempton Park home to head to Ivory Park, informing us that my sister-in-law had been found dead in their rented room,” Robert recalled.
“When I got to their room, I found their cold lifeless bodies on the floor. There was no prospect of life.”
In their room in the Tokyo area of Ivory Park, which is close to Tembisa, Amina had left two suicide notes. “My death and the death of my two children are in your hands,” she said in a letter to her ex-husband, who is the father of both of her children. You are responsible . . .”
To her family, she wrote: “I am sorry. I had to do this. But I am tired of life.”
When paramedics arrived on the scene, they declared all three of the victims dead. The neighbor claims that they have lost a neighborly and kind person.
