Folorunsho Ariyo, a secondary school student, was abducted in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) along the Dutse axis. Her kidnappers have since killed her.
Ten people, including Miss Ariyo, her mother, and three siblings, were abducted by gunmen who broke into Sagwari Layout Estate in Dutse on Sunday, January 7, 2024, according to LIB.
The bodies of four kidnapped victims were reportedly dumped at Ida, close to Ushafa in the Bwari Area Council, together with the remains of Folorunsho and Nabeeeha Al-kadriyar.
The youngster was the daughter of the National University Commission’s (NUC) Chief Legal Officer, who was born in Ekiti State, according to the Nigerian Tribune.
According to family members who spoke with the publication, the kidnappers wanted N60 million in ransom to free the Ariyo family members, who could only manage to amass roughly N5 million.
A family source stated, “As of last Friday, talks were still ongoing, and we were hopeful of a positive outcome until we were contacted to pick up her body.”
On Sunday, January 14, 2024, the teenage girl was buried in Abuja’s Dutse Cemetery; the other family members are still with their kidnappers.
