Matthew Perry’s loved ones gathered for the actor’s funeral on Friday. Less than a week after Friends star Matthew Perry was found dead at his Los Angeles home, he was laid to rest in a private ceremony just steps from the studio where he spent his most iconic years.
Matthew Perry’s former Friends castmates, including Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer, were in attendance, E! reports, as were his father, actor John Bennett Perry, and his stepfather, Dateline host Keith Morrison.
Perry died on Oct. 28 at age 54 at his home in Los Angeles after an apparent drowning, TMZ first reported. Law enforcement sources told the outlet there were no drugs found at the scene, and no signs of foul play were present.
Before his untimely death, the beloved Friends star, who battled alcohol and drug addiction for decades, was planning to establish a foundation to support those suffering from substance abuse.
Matthew Perry’s loved ones brought that foundation to fruition when a website for The Matthew Perry Foundation went live on Friday.
The foundation’s website also features a black-and-white photo of Perry alongside an inspiring quote about his desire to help others.
“When I die, I don’t want ‘Friends’ to be the first thing that’s mentioned, I want helping others to be the first thing that’s mentioned. “Addiction is far too powerful for anyone to defeat alone. But together, one day at a time, we can beat it down.
