While her spouse was out of town, a 16-year-old pupil was allegedly asked over for sex after receiving a nude photo from a female instructor.
The youngster received the obscene images from 24-year-old Rikki Lynn Laughlin, a special education teacher at St. James High School in Missouri, according to the Maries County Sheriff Department.
The married mother-of-one is accused of stalking the 16-year-old, sending him explicit pictures, and requesting pictures from him. She is being charged with six felonies.
In June 2022, Laughlin wed 23-year-old Grant Laughlin; the couple had a 1-year-old daughter.
The instructor often shares photos of herself on social media, including ones of her riding horses, posing with weapons, waving Trump flags, and spending time with her husband and infant.
The majority of Laughlin’s interactions with the student were on Snapchat, when she reportedly gave him an explicit video of herself engaging in sex acts.
After contacting him on Snapchat, the purported victim stated that they had also had a kiss and that “things progressed fast.”
The youngster said that Laughlin encouraged him to have intercourse at her family home while her husband was out of town.
According to the detective’s report, the teenager told police he made up a reason not to meet Laughlin for sex at her residence because “he did not feel comfortable.”
A detective visited the student at home after the school district that hired Laughlin reported the relationship, and they discovered some of the obscene content and nude photos that had been sent.
In their probable cause statement, the Maries County Sheriff’s Office claimed that although Laughlin did not dispute receiving the images, the student was the one who started their “inappropriate relationship.”
“I didn’t know he was a minor until yesterday,” said Laughlin. In Missouri, the legal age of consent is 17.
Following Laughlin’s consent for police to inspect her phone, the detective discovered a video that matched what the 16-year-old had reported.
