Ghanaian politician Hassan Ayariga has said he will ban betting in Ghana when he secures the presidential seat.
The PNC’s presidential candidate weighed in on the ongoing debate regarding the introduction of betting tax in Ghana during an interview with Giovanni Caleb on 3FM this week.
According to Hassan Ayariga, betting is for lazy people and that only unemployed youth indulge in it.
“Betting is an avenue for lazy people,” he said. “I will make betting illegal. Why do you bet? Because they have no job? They are looking for an avenue to eat.”
He provided a solution to betting, saying he would rather make the country the biggest tech hub in the world by empowering the youth to work behind their computers.
“What do you mean by betting when I need young people to sit behind computers to design things and build a country where we have the highest technology in the world?” he disclosed.
He said betting taxes are not needed in this country. “We don’t need those taxes,” he added.
