Elizabeth Hoffman was an American character actor who lived from February 8, 1926, until August 21, 2023. On the NBC drama series Sisters (1991–1996), she was best recognized for her regular part as Beatrice Reed Ventnor, the mother of the sisters portrayed by actors Swoosie Kurtz, Sela Ward, Patricia Kalember, and Julianne Phillips.

Before making her feature film debut in Frank LaLoggia’s supernatural horror picture Fear No Evil (1981), Hoffman made her television debut in a recurring role on Little House on the Prairie (1980–1981). Hoffman played Eleanor Roosevelt in the historical drama The Winds of War directed by Dan Curtis in 1983.
In the 1987 film Nuts, she played a supporting role opposite Barbra Streisand. In the miniseries War and Remembrance, in 1988, she recreated her Eleanor Roosevelt role.
