As it stands, the Charlton brothers, Jack and  Bobby who won the 1966 World Cup together but shared a strained relationship are no more. Jack was the first to pass away.  He passed away at his home in Ashington Northumberland on 10 July 2020 at the age of 85 after suffering from lymphoma and dementia. Bobby Charlton has sadly passed away, aged 86, three years after the death of his brother Jack.

Despite playing together for many years and lifting the World Cup alongside one another in 1966, Jack and Bobby had an over 40-year feud between them. This article will dive into the matter to find out why they were not on good terms for more than four decades as well as why Bobby was not at the funeral of his late brother even though the brothers ended their 42-year feud in an emotional live TV moment.

Why did Jack Charlton and Bobby Charlton fall out?

As previously stated, the two football legends were in a 42-year feud.

According to the information gathered,  their rift was caused by friction between Cissie Charlton, their mother and Norma, Bobby’s wife. Jack accused Bobby of not visiting their mother Cissie before her death in 1996, blaming Bobby’s wife Norma.

Why was Bobby Charlton not at Jack Charlton’s funeral?

During the final funeral rite for the late Jack in 2020, his younger brother Bobby failed to attend. Many concluded that it was a result of their ‘supposed’ ended feud between them.

Having said that, his absence at the funeral was a result of him battling dementia like his brother had.
