Author and journalist Laura Margaret Tingle was born in Australia on February 14, 1961.

She previously served as the political editor of the Australian Financial Review and is currently the main political correspondent for the 7.30 current events television program of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

John Tingle was an Australian journalist and politician who lived from 1931 to 2006. On March 12, 1931, he was born in Sydney, Australia. In the 1950s, he started his career as a journalist, working for Sydney and Melbourne radio and television stations. For the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), he also served as a foreign correspondent.

Tingle entered politics in the 1970s. In 1976, he won a seat on the New South Wales Legislative Council as a member of the Liberal Party. Up until 1995, he was a member of the Legislative Council.

Pamela Chivers, a journalist and educator, lived from 1931 until 2023. On August 6, 1931, she was born in Sydney, Australia. In the 1950s, she started her profession as a teacher. Later, she worked for the ABC as a journalist.

Chivers had a talent for editing and writing. She was also a fierce supporter of social justice and education.

In 1959, Tingle and Chivers got hitched. Laura, Sarah, and Peter were their three children together.
