Joyce DeWitt is an American actress, best known for her role as Janet Wood on the ABC sitcom Three’s Company from 1977 to 1984.
DeWitt was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, on April 23, 1949. She began her acting career in the early 1970s, appearing in guest roles on television shows such as The Partridge Family and Maude. In 1977, she landed her breakthrough role as Janet Wood on Three’s Company. The show was a huge success, and DeWitt became a household name. She remained with the show for seven seasons, leaving in 1984.
After leaving Three’s Company, DeWitt continued to act, appearing in television shows such as Finder of Lost Loves, The Love Boat, and Murder, She Wrote. She has also starred in several films, including The Boyfriend School (1980), Spring Break (1983), and Side Out (1990).
