Zachary Michael Gilford was born on January 14, 1982 in Evanston, Illinois. He is best known for his role as Matt Saracen in the NBC sports drama series Friday Night Lights.
He attended Evanston Township High School as well as Northwestern University. He has led wilderness and adventure trips for teens in Alaska, British Columbia, California, Hawaii, and the South Pacific as a trip leader for Adventures Cross-Country.
Gilford played the role of Matt Saracen in the Friday Night Lights main cast from Season 1 to Season 3 after being hired for a regular part there in 2006. 2009 saw the addition of Gilford to the recurring cast for Seasons 4 and 5. As a costar in The Last Winter (2006), he also made his big-screen debut. He made an appearance on Grey’s Anatomy as a guest star and in the film Rise: Blood Hunter.
