Eden Hazard, a former winger for Chelsea and Real Madrid, has declared his retirement from the game at the age of 32.
Hazard paid £89 million to go from Chelsea to Real Madrid in 2019, but only made 54 league games for the club due to injury problems.
He nevertheless won several significant awards with Real Madrid, including the Champions League.
In December 2022, Hazard announced his retirement from international competition after Belgium was eliminated during the group stage of the 2022 World Cup.
He played for Belgium on 126 occasions and scored 33 goals throughout his international career.
The Belgian winger started his career in France with Lille before transferring to Chelsea in 2012. At Chelsea, he established himself as a club icon by winning two Premier League championships and tallying 110 goals in 352 games.
While at Chelsea, Hazard also received the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.
Hazard expressed his thanks for the experiences he had playing football in a social media post thanking his supporters, teammates, and clubs for their support throughout the course of his career. He remarked that it was time to spend time with his loved ones and enjoy life away from the field.
