Democracy Hub, organisers of the ‘Fix The Country’ and ‘Occupy Julorbi House’ pickets, have announced a month-long demonstration against the Akufo-Addo-led government in December this year.
The picketing event, which would be the longest in the history of Ghana, is scheduled for December 1 – 31, 2023. It will be held at Liberation Street, opposite the Jubilee House, in Accra.
Democracy Hub, in a press statement on Monday, said they are staging this demonstration because President AKufo-Addo’s “stewardship of Ghana shows incompetence, a lack of integrity, routine abuse of power, and greed.”

It continues: “We are perturbed by high levels of persistent unemployment among the youth; and the level of economic mismanagement that has jeopardized the future of young people as well as pushed nearly a million Ghanaians into poverty.”
“We are further concerned about the deteriorating press freedom; extrajudicial killings and the persecution of activists calling for democratic reforms.”
The month-long demonstration will have two themes; ‘Occupy Julorbi House’ and ‘Just Resign,’.
The demonstrators will call on President Akufo-Addo to resign immediately or be impeached by Parliament.
They will also demand the urgent “prosecution of corrupt officials, including persons in the president’s family and inner circle who have contributed to what has been described by a former cabinet Minister as “a Friends, Family and Concubines Government.”
