American actor and comedian Matthew Paul Walsh was born on October 13, 1964, in Chicago. His most famous character is Mike McLintock in the television series Veep, for which he has won two Primetime Emmy nods. He studied psychology at Northern Illinois University, where he received his degree. He also finished an academic year of study abroad at Salzburg College in Austria.
He co-starred in the original television series and the 2015 remake of the sketch comedy group Upright Citizens Brigade, of which he is a founding member. In addition, he has worked as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and performed in several short-lived comedy shows, including Dog Bites Man and Players.
Walsh has also appeared in films such as Role Models (2008), The Hangover (2009), School for Scoundrels (2006), Bad Santa (2003), Road Trip (2000), and The Do-Over (2016).
Walsh has recurring parts in the HBO comedy series Hung and the NBC comedy series Outsourced in 2010. He co-starred as Mike McLintock in the HBO series Veep beginning in 2012.
