Jasmine Crockett was born on March 29, 1981, in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Her full name is Jasmine Felicia Crockett. She is a lawyer and politician from Texas who represents the state’s 30th congressional district.
In 2003, she graduated from Rhodes College with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration. Crockett initially planned to be an anesthesiologist or a certified public accountant before deciding to go to law school, a decision she made after claiming to be the victim of numerous hate crimes.
Her district encompasses most of South Dallas County, parts of Tarrant County, and Dallas Love Field Airport. She previously represented the 100th district in the Texas House of Representatives as a member of the Democratic Party.
After finishing law school, Crockett stayed in Texas and focused on civil rights litigation. She worked as the county’s public defender before opening her law firm. During the George Floyd protests, Crockett and her colleagues took on other Black Lives Matter activists’ cases pro gratis.
Crockett prevailed in the Democratic primary runoff over Marc Veasey’s assistant Jane Hope Hamilton. She subsequently won the general election on November 8. Crockett was chosen to serve in the 118th Congress as the freshmen class representative.
