Maddy Cusack, one of Sheffield United Women’s Football Club’s most beloved players, passed away tragically.
On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, the 27-year-old midfielder who had joined the squad in 2019 and left an imprint that would never be forgotten passed away.
Maddy’s devotion to her love of football was evident in her work as a committed marketing executive at the club in addition to being a gifted athlete.
She made almost 100 appearances while playing for the Blades, solidifying her place in the Women’s Championship team.
But Maddy’s influence went well beyond the field. She was well-known for her kind demeanor and steadfast professionalism, winning the respect and admiration of everyone who had the honor of working with her.
She made a significant impact to Sheffield United off the field as well, becoming a vital member of the club’s community.
“This is heart-breaking news for everyone at Bramall Lane,” said the club’s chief executive Stephen Bettis, expressing the deep grief felt there.
