Prince Harry made a low-key, unannounced visit to the UK on September 8, 2023, the anniversary of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
He was seen at Windsor’s St. George’s Chapel, perhaps paying homage at his grandmother’s grave. Interestingly, Meghan Markle was not traveling with him.
Prince Harry paid this tribute to the late Queen, but it seems to have been a brief journey because he was not accompanied by any other members of the royal family.
His brother Prince William was in Wales with his wife, Kate Middleton, at the time, and his father, King Charles, had attended a memorial ceremony for Queen Elizabeth II in Scotland earlier in the day.
A significant difference between Harry’s visit and those of other senior royals like King Charles and Prince William is that the latter’s appearances were public events with media coverage, as they are considered “working” Senior Royals. In contrast, Harry’s visit was kept off the grid.
Prince Harry made the effort to fly back to the UK to honor Queen Elizabeth II’s memory on this significant anniversary.
