Jimmy Stanger, born and raised in Tampa, Florida, developed a passion for golf from a young age. He honed his skills at Avila Golf and Country Club and competed in local junior tournaments organized by the Greater Tampa Junior Golf Association and the Florida Junior Tour.

His success in junior and amateur golf paved the way for a collegiate career at the University of Virginia, where he played golf for four years. He made steady progress each year, narrowly missing out on earning his PGA Tour card in 2019 and 2021. Throughout the combined 2020-2021 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Stanger secured seven top 11 finishes and finished 50th on the points list.

In the 2022 Korn Ferry Season, he achieved three top 5 finishes and ended the season ranked 40th in the overall points ranking.

While primarily playing on the Korn Ferry Tour, Stanger has also had the opportunity to compete in five PGA Tour events early in his professional career.
