André Rieu is of French Huguenot origin, both of Rieu’s parents were Roman Catholic.
He was born to Andries Antonie Rieu and is the third of six children.
He has two older sisters who are Teresia and Cilia, two younger brothers who are Robert and Jean-Philippe, and a younger sister named Gaby Buirma-Rieu.
Rieu is a Dutch violinist and conductor best known for creating the waltz-playing Johann Strauss Orchestra. He and his orchestra have turned classical and waltz music into a worldwide concert touring act. He resides in his native Maastricht.
Why did André Rieu, attack journalists?
The popular Dutch violinist and multimillionaire André Rieu was attacked because he used the widely broadcasted Silvestergala concert in the German city of Trier to strike back at large at every journalist in the world. That makes the International Journalist Union react with shock. “How dare he say such abominable things? He’s a star – he needs the free publicity and attention we provide!”
