An Indiana lady who rode her bike while carrying her brand-new twins in a milk box received a prison sentence. After witnesses noticed Blossum Kirby, 36, riding her bike recklessly while carrying the two infants in the milk carton, she was detained in June 2022. At the time, the infants were just 2 months old.
Kirby was accused of neglecting two dependents on two separate occasions. She received a two-year jail term with one year suspended after being found guilty on both counts. Both a year in jail and a year of probation are required of her.
The judge in the case said that Kirby’s actions were “reckless and dangerous” and that she had put her children’s lives at risk. The judge also said that Kirby had shown no remorse for her actions.
Kirby’s case has sparked outrage in the community. Many people have called for her to be sentenced to more jail time. However, her lawyer has said that she is “deeply sorry” for her actions and that she is “committed to getting help”.
This case is a reminder of the importance of safe transportation for children. It is also a reminder that parents have a responsibility to protect their children from harm.
