Gay Saget, Bob Saget’s sister, died at the age of 47 of scleroderma, and he died on her birthday.
On January 9, 2022, Saget was discovered dead in an Orlando hotel room.

In memory of his sister, Bob Saget worked in close collaboration with the Scleroderma Research Foundation and with patients living with the disorder.
Following Gay’s death, Saget helped the foundation raise $35 million in funds for research into treatments for the disease.
Work done at many of the world’s leading research institutes including Johns Hopkins and Stanford, among others.
According to the Scleroderma Research Foundation’s website, Saget was a member of its board of directors.
He also wrote and directed the film “For Hope,” which chronicles his sister’s battle with cancer.
