Silvio Berlusconi was said to have been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, which was the cause of his death. Silvio Berlusconi had a pacemaker implanted to help improve his health.

Silvio Berlusconi was also the president and owner of AC Milan, acquiring the club in 1986 and taking it from almost-bankruptcy to being a European superpower. More recently, he has been the owner of Serie A side Monza
